Best (& EASY) Homemade Pumpkin Pie Recipe

October 30, 2018

It's officially November and that means my FAVORITE holiday is upon us,
THANKSGIVING!!

Growing up I loved everything about this holiday. Being little and watching my mom and dad cook, while singing songs in the kitchen drinking a glass (or two) of wine, and how happy they were. My mom always had the most STUNNING table, the tablecloth & napkins handmade by my grandmother, my grandmothers china polished and shined for dinner, greenery and pumpkins everywhere! But the best part of the evening was of course dessert!

Every year in October my dad and I have a Pumpkin Pie Day, where we spend and entire day making pies, and it literally takes all day! We don't use store bought pumpkin we slice, boil, mash and make the pumpkin filling ourselves. So after we make the pumpkin filling we freeze it and have at least enough to make 4-8 pies whenever we want.

This post is JUST the recipe for the pie, but if you're interested in seeing how we make the filling out of real pumpkin leave me a comment below (or you can Google, how to make real pie filling ha)! This recipe is very dear to my heart it's my grandmothers, and honestly I've tried a lot of pumpkin pies but nothing compares to hers! Hope you all enjoy it as much as I do!

Mom Mom Bea's Pumpkin Pie
We use the old fashion aluminum pie tins, they honestly work the best. They are extremely hard to find, but we got lucky this year a found them at The Dollar Store.

Preheat over 425

Pie Crust:
Pillsbury Pie Crust (seriously better then homemade!)

Ingredients:
1 Cup Sugar
1 1/2 Teaspoon Cinnamon
1/2 Teaspoon Ground Ginger
1/2 Teaspoon Nutmeg
1/2 Teaspoon Allspice
1/2 Teaspoon Ground Clove
1 1/2 Cups of Pumpkin
1 2/3 Cups Evaporated Milk
2 eggs
1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla
Sprinkle Pumpkin Pie Spice for extra flavor!

Instructions:
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.**
note you will bake the pie on this temperature for 15min, and then lower the temp to 350 for 35min.

Crust: Make sure the crust is thawed and roll it over your pie tin pressing it down the sides, and getting all the air bubbles out. To make the crust edges my dad has a little trick. Just starting pinching together the crust edges with your pointer fingers and thumbs (ha like your going to pop a pimple, I know awful example but that was the best way I could explain it), and continue all the way around.

Filling: Combine all the ingredients mentioned above in a bowl, (I like using a hand mixer personally).

Add filling to the pie crust.

Place pie crust on a baking sheet and place in the oven.

Bake 15min on 425

After 15min lower temp. to 350 and bake for 35min.

ENJOY!

Also, you can freeze these pies once they are done fully cooled. We make so many at a time we let them cool completely and freeze them, they last about a year! Just take it out of the freezer and let it thaw on the counter and enjoy, no need to re heat it or anything!

Affordable Skin Care with Advanced Clinicals

October 5, 2018

This post is NOT sponsored, opinions & thoughts are my own.

If you are new to the blog family, welcome!

As many of you may know I turned 30 back in May (you can read all about my thoughts on turning the BIG 3.0. here). I knew it was time to start taking better care of my skin, since I'm getting older and I am starting to see those tiny tiny wrinkle's beginning to creep their way into my life. And as you also may know I'm not one to spend an arm and leg on eye cream, sorry but $100 for eye YOU'RE CRAZY. Through research and reading a ton of reviews, I'm delighted to tell you about my latest RAVE worthy discovery Advanced Clinicals.

Advanced Clinicals is an affordable anti-aging skin care line made with high performance results, driven ingredients and advanced delivery systems. What makes Advanced Clinicals a RAVE worthy brand in my opinion is all are priced at $30 or less!

The three items I've been using since May are as shown above, The Retinol Anti-Wrikle Serum, 5-in-1 Multi-Correction Eye Serum & Retinol Advanced Firming Cream. Let me break it down one product at a time for you!

This little beauty is a miracle in a bottle! Retinol is known to be a beneficial ingredient for your skin, it leaves a healthy glow and enhances your skin's elasticity and revitalizing your radiant glowing complexion. I use it nightly and wake up to a visibly smoother looking skin. The best part I found it on Wal Marts website, for $4.82!

Okay, if you ya'll have been following me for a while you'd know this bad boy was in my blog post last month in my monthly favorites post, (you can find it here). I can't say enough good things about this product! It instantly hydrates skin while diminishing the look of dark circles, bags, puffiness, fine lines & wrinkles. It also lifts and tightens the eye area for an age-defying appearance while locking in much need hydration to dry skin. I like to use it in the morning after my moisturizer & at night as my very last step to my night time routine. Again, found it on Wal Marts website, for $11.90!

This product is a wrinkle's worst nightmare! This cream reduces the signs of again, while moisturizing. It's also great for getting rid of stretch marks! I love the size of container as well, it's a 16 oz "spa" size bottle (love that!). I use it again in the mornings as my moisturizer, and at night gently message it all over my clean face and neck! It also contains natural ingredients such as Aloe Vera, Chamomile & Green Tea. Found on Wal Marts website, for $5.83!

I hope ya'll enjoyed these affordable finds, and it goes to show you that you don't have to spend an arm and a leg for great products!

Fall Starbucks Drinks + How to Order

October 1, 2018

I’m not afraid to admit that when it comes to fall I am as basic as it gets. Give me all the cozy sweaters, pumpkins, flannel, and of course…STARBUCKS.

I love trying new drinks, but hate wasting money on not-so-good ones (ya feel?), so whenever I find a staple, I love to share it. You guys have been loving the recommendations I share on Instagram highlights, so I thought it would be fun to do a post with all the details on my 3 current favorite fall inspired drinks, with a little twist to each one.

Chai Latte with Pumpkin Spice
How to order :

grande chai latte with coconut milk
2 pumps of chai ONLY not extra
 2 pumps of pumpkin
.
I love it iced or hot, totally depends on the weather and my mood.
If you order the “pumpkin spice chai” as it is on the menu, it comes  with 4 pumps of chai and 4 pumps of pumpkin. I cut that in half to make it less calories and sugar! I also always love a classic chai latte with coconut milk (all 4 pumps chai), but this is a fun little Fall switch up.

Salted Caramel Cold Foam Cold Brew
How to order:

This drink is actually on the menu, but again, I like to make it a bit “skinnier”. Just ask for a salted caramel cold foam cold brew with 1 pump of caramel and 2 pumps of sugar free vanilla.
The menu version can have a lot of sugar, so I opted for less caramel and vanilla. This is a game changer if you like cold brew! I love the slightly sweet/salty coffee combo.

Skinny Vanilla Latte with Cinnamon

How to order:

skinny vanilla latte
two pumps of vanilla and coconut milk, topped with cinnamon

Again, I ask for less pumps of vanilla than it usually calls for. Lastly, topping this drink with cinnamon makes it smell amazing and gives it a very Fall feel!

What is your go to Fall Drink?
